Angelo
Moore started his career in the alternative / ska music scene
of the 1980s as lead singer and saxophonist of the often imitated,
yet never simulated, band Fishbone. The band's ability to
combine social commentary with frenzied, upbeat music and
a frantic stage show, led to their reputation as one of the
best live acts in American music.
In 1995, Angelo began writing and performing poetry as Dr.
Madd Vibe. Based on his experiences growing up as "a fly in
the buttermilk" in the predominantly white suburbs of the
San Fernando Valley in Southern California, he addresses such
topics as racism, social corrosion, family matters, and the
human condition in a "world gone mad." His poems reflect the
politics of relationships in America today.
Angelo has taken his message and spoken word to the stage
and poetry festivals throughout the world including New York,
Paris, and Tokyo. In addition, Angelo has published a highly
successful book of poetry titled "Dr. Madd Vibe's Comprehensive
Linkology" as well as a CD of the same name, and is currently
working on a new Fishbone album and second book of poetry.
